Snowing on October 29!

It is snowing today.  Snowing and raining alternately.  The kids and Mr. D went out in it.  I was on my way to getting properly clothed when the snow stopped and rain began, and the crew was ready to come back in.  The real snow is supposed to start tonight.  It looks like Doodle will get out of playing soccer again this week -- more on his contempt for losing later.

I sat silently listening to my father give me a twenty minute lecture on what a bad parent I am and how wonderful his parenting was.  He was laughing through some of it because he finds my parenting style laughable.  Here are some highlights:

We aren't firm enough with Doodle.
We shouldn't let our two-year old decide if she wants to talk to her grandfather on the phone, she should be made to do it.
It's comical to him when Doodle comes out of bed at night after being told to stay in his room.

This one-way conversation was on the heals of being asked to borrow a large sum of money to buy a multi-unit house. 

Loose tooth

While I was painting our hutch Doodle came in and asked if he could tell me a secret.  Yes, of course, I eagerly replied.  "I have a loose tooth," he said.  Then he showed me his wiggly bottom tooth.  I can't believe my boy is growing up so fast. 

He turned five and a half yesterday.
