new discovery
My brother informed me that we can have the clothes dryer vent into the house in the winter to make the back of our house warmer and not heat the outdoors. It never occurred to me that you can do that. I unhooked the hose from the metal cylinder at the back of the dryer and let her rip. It was great. The back of our house, which is normally the coldest part, was warm and a little humid (which doesn't bother me at all). The windows steamed up, but that was really the only downside. I'm going to buy a grate to attach to the cylinder to catch the lint.

I don't know what it's called but there is an indoor buckety device for the hose to go into. It has a lid that the hose fits in to.
Somehow reduces the humidity produced by the vent. So you get the heat without the water.
You just need to empty the bucket every once in a while.
Thanks! I'll look into that. I have two errands to run now -- the wine store and the hardware store. In that order.
